The Daily Lesson
Lesson 47: From A Course in Miracles
LESSON 47
God Is The Strength In Which I Trust.
If you are trusting in your own strength, you have every reason to be apprehensive, anxious and fearful. What can you predict or control? What is there in you that can be counted on? What would give you the ability to be aware of all the facets of any problem, and to resolve them in such a way that only good can come of it? What is there in you that gives you the recognition of the right solution, and the guarantee that it will be accomplished?
Of yourself you can do none of these things. To believe that you can is to put your trust where trust is unwarranted, and to justify fear, anxiety, depression, anger and sorrow. Who can put his faith in weakness and feel safe? Yet who can put his faith in strength and feel weak?
God is your safety in every circumstance. His Voice speaks for Him in all situations and in every aspect of all situations, telling you exactly what to do to call upon His strength and His protection. There are no exceptions because God has no exceptions. And the Voice Which speaks for Him thinks as He does.
Today we will try to reach past your own weakness to the Source of real strength. Four five-minute practice periods are necessary today, and longer and more frequent ones are urged. Close your eyes and begin, as usual, by repeating the idea for the day. Then spend a minute or two in searching for situations in your life which you have invested with fear, dismissing each one by telling yourself:
God is the strength in which I trust.
Now try to slip past all concerns related to your own sense of inadequacy. It is obvious that any situation that causes you concern is associated with feelings of inadequacy, for otherwise you would believe that you could deal with the situation successfully. It is not by trusting yourself that you will gain confidence. But the strength of God in you is successful in all things.
The recognition of your own frailty is a necessary step in the correction of your errors, but it is hardly a sufficient one in giving you the confidence which you need, and to which you are entitled. You must also gain an awareness that confidence in your real strength is fully justified in every respect and in all circumstances.
In the latter phase of the practice period, try to reach down into your mind to a place of real safety. You will recognize that you have reached it if you feel a sense of deep peace, however briefly. Let go all the trivial things that churn and bubble on the surface of your mind, and reach down and below them to the Kingdom of Heaven. There is a place in you where there is perfect peace. There is a place in you where nothing is impossible. There is a place in you where the strength of God abides.
During the day, repeat the idea often. Use it as your answer to any disturbance. Remember that peace is your right, because you are giving your trust to the strength of God.
My Thoughts:
This first sentence is a game-changer. The recognition that fear and anxiety come from trusting in your own separateness, your own ego, is a wake-up call. It’s logical: no one can give something he does not have.
The ego has no strength; it may believe it is strong, it may believe it is powerful, but it cannot share a pretense, a lie. Next to the strength of God, the creator of all life in the multiverse, it’s rather obvious.
The ego is made from nothing, a tiny mad idea that you could separate yourself off from oneness, pretend to be the creator of yourself and the world you see, but never knowing the truth. In that confused state, you cannot know of love, truth, or wholeness and endless creating. It’s impossible.
Yet, with God, everything is possible. There is a place in you where you remember this strength, this wisdom. It resides in the recesses of your mind, perhaps, but that’s OK. It’s still there because it was placed there in your creation. You may have forgotten your beauty, wholeness and perfection; and you’ve been fearful ever since, confused about who you are, what you’re doing here, and where you’re going. That’s why you need mind training.
In each lesson, we are being shown our ability to call on the strength of God, the love of God, and to forgive ourselves and others. Whenever we feel weak, unsure, and then blame ourselves or others, we deny our ability to remember and to find peace.
Problems are easily solved by God. He knows His creation. Yet the one problem we never question is whether this whole thing—this game we are playing—could be real.
We have made up a pseudo-reality. It’s based on fear, separation and denial. Of course, we doubt ourselves; we have been asleep, listening to the wrong voices within our minds.
It’s been quite a nightmare, too. Just look around, see the chaos that is rearing its ugly head each day in the headlines of our news channels. Endless war is what the ego is all about; it’s no wonder we have experienced only that for eons on this planet. We don’t even know the real history of our species, it’s mostly fabricated by the powerful and elite forces that have had control.
We don’t even know who we are, who God is, why there is so much pain, and what is the meaning of life. These unanswered questions keep haunting us until we finally question the reality of our problem.
We are now on the verge of a mass spiritual awakening; we are finally seeing through the devious plan to keep us forever enslaved. We are rising up out of the dark to find that there is actually something more powerful and hopeful to put our focus on.
God is our strength, vision is His gift. His vision will show us a brand new world, and our master teachers came to show us the way throughout the ages, to help us heal our mistaken thoughts and correct our misperception.
That is the purpose of A Course in Miracles. You’re doing it, playing your part. The value of your participation is beyond the earth, or anything else you could value here.
It’s not for later, it’s not for a future moment of nirvana. It’s now. Here. In these simple lessons given to us by the awakened higher dimensional Beings supporting us in our shared purpose of leaving this tragic dimension behind.
You don’t need a shaman, you don’t need to take a drug to wake up, you simply need to train your mind and realize where your strength lies. The ego is not real, it’s not who you are, it never was.
Put your faith in One who knows you, knows what’s up, has sent endless help, until we finally asked for it and meant it.
Where is this all leading?
Well, there is a whole multiverse to explore. Let’s start by remembering who we are as humans on Earth and learn to love one another. Shall we?
LOVE,
Monica
P.S. I have something coming soon that I’m really excited to share with you. Stay tuned.
Don’t forget to share this with a friend, someone who may need some help today. That’s how this works: one person at a time.
